Teaching

“If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.”

-Margaret Fuller

I believe that teachers are the guides to help bring agency, creativity, and inspiration to their students. Through their curriculum, teachers have an obligation to teach humanistic values as well, such as empathy, honesty, and responsibility.

Through goal-oriented exercises and practice that are driven towards expanding the vocal palette, the students are able to discover the ways in which they desire to express their musical essence. As artists, manifesting the inner voice through musical expression is of utmost importance.

Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy

My emphasis is helping students look inwards at anything that may hinder authentic expression. Through the use of Cross Training (working on Classical and Musical Theatre to strengthen the entire vocal mechanism) and Functional Voice Training (Fact-based terminology and anatomical emphasis), I help my students unlock a wider range of vocal options so that they are capable of expressing the full range of human emotion.
